Eastern Redbud - Cercis canadensis

A Georgia native beloved for its early spring show of magenta-pink blooms along bare branches, the Eastern redbud thrives in Georgia's clay soils and fits beautifully into smaller yards as an understory or accent tree.

As a smaller ornamental species, expect roughly 8 ft of height by year 5, 15 ft by year 10, 20 ft by year 15, and 25 ft by year 20 — close to its mature height of 20-30 ft.

Redbuds have a modest root spread, but we still recommend planting at least 20 feet from your home's foundation to keep roots and branches clear of structures.
