River Birch - Betula nigra 'BNMTF'

Native to Georgia's clay-rich stream banks, the river birch is a fast-growing, heat-resistant shade tree known for its peeling, cinnamon-colored bark and graceful, weeping form, grown as single or multi-trunk. It adapts readily to Georgia's clay soils and tolerates both wet spots and average conditions.

Expect roughly 15 ft of height by year 5, 28 ft by year 10, 38 ft by year 15, and 45 ft by year 20 under good growing conditions — eventually reaching 40-70 ft at full maturity.

Plant at least 20 feet from your home's foundation and other structures to accommodate its vigorous root system.
